Places of interest in Lemmer
In Lemmer, the old fishing village on the former Zuiderzee, now the IJsselmeer, you will find all kinds of gems that are absolutely worth seeing or visiting. One of the most famous sights in Lemmer is of course the impressive Woudagemaal : the largest steam pumping station ever built, which still contributes to maintaining the water level. Can rightly be called a world heritage site! At the harbor of Lemmer there is a special old lighthouse, and in the village there are some beautiful old churches.
Prefer to spend a day indoors? Then you can go to it Indian museum , it Dive Museum or the Lemster-Fiifgea Antiquity Room (also known as Museum Lemmer). If you would like to take a city trip, Lemmer is of course also a wonderful base for a day trip to Leeuwarden, Groningen or Zwolle .
Walking or cycling through Lemmer and the surrounding area
The Netherlands is pre-eminently a cycling country, and that of course also applies to Friesland! Various cycling routes have been plotted in the area.
